“There is no beautifier of complexion, or form, or behavior, like the wish to scatter joy not pain around us.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
It may sound silly, or obvious, but I truly believe what the everyone in world really needs is a daily dose of smiles 🙂
Even in a tranquil country like New Zealand which is known as one of the friendliest countries in the world, we still aren’t happy…with domestic violence, suicide, and eating disorders all becoming huge problems. We aren’t all as happy as a first-world country should be…why?
I think we need to look at our lives individually and put them into perspective and think about all the things that we have in our lives to be thankful for, even if it is something as simple as the takeaway coffee we can afford to grab on our way to work in the morning, or that we have a roof over our heads, that we have friends and/or family who think the world of us.
Maybe if we spent more time being grateful for all that we have, as opposed to getting all glum and woe-is-me about all the things not so fabulous about life then maybe we would all be a lot happier…hey, we might even smile a bit more often. Smiling as they say is contagious…so who knows? Maybe we could start an epidemic of the most positive kind? It even takes less effort for one’s facial muscles to smile than to frown. Smiles draw attention to the beauty present in ones face, to one’s personality, it can also increase our self-confidence.
So chin up, show the world that grin and positive outlook on life and maybe you and I can make the world a better place…just one smile at a time…:)
